Counting down to Christmas

Making a project on a tight deadline is a real challenge and
I was hoping to have our Watchcat Holiday card for this posting, but I've been fighting Murphy's Law all the way on this one. I will post it in the next few days, so be sure to check out our Watchcat Facebook page when it comes out.
We would like to thank Andy Jones and Rick Almada for their voice work in our upcoming Holiday short, "Tis the Season" and Soloman (Sal) Carreiro for his animation help as well.

Sal's an animation student at Woodbury University in Burbank,CA, who returned to his home in Fall River, MA, to help clean up Scene 5; the Bad Guy punch to camera. It was a small scene, but we really appreciated the extra help. Thanks Sal!

BTW, the scene was based on this footage of Chuck Norris punching at the camera.

And speaking of the Bad Guy.

The winning entry of our "Name this Bad Guy" Contest goes to Peg Foley of Albuquerque, New Mexico for her entry "Toodles McGee!" Peg wins an official Watchcat button!
Congratulations!
Thanks again to everyone who have been clicking on the ads. Last week, we got $3.00 in ad clicks raising our total to $59.22. Only $40.78 more clicks and Google will send us a check which we intend to donating to a local Animal Shelter.
So click on the ads and click often. Thank You!

CTNX 2017 this weekend

This week, Watchcat Films will be in search of animation and background artists for an upcoming Watchcat Holiday short. We will be prowling at CTNX 2017, if you see us, please stop us and say hello.

Did we mention we have a new holiday episode in the works? There will be a few new changes on this one, all I can say is that we are going for a more Film Noir style.

But now, a commercial...

Our Viewers are clicking!
The beginning of November, 43 cents from 2 ad clicks raised our total to $55.94. Our goal is to raise $60 or more, but we need everyone viewing this blog to click on the ads.
It will take us 10 months to reach $60 if we only get 2 ad clicks per month, but if you click everytime you visit this blog, we can reach our $110.00 goal by the end of 2017.
Click for an Animal in need!
The whole point of clicking is to donate the check from Adsense to a local Animal Shelter. Google won't send us a check until we reach over $100 in ad clicks. We have been doing this for a few years now and are halfway there.
Click the ads!
We've been getting a large number of views every post we put up. If every viewer clicked over the next 3 posts, we should be able to past our goal amount.

Thank You and now back to the blog!

Here's the rough beginnings of a storyboard for our Holiday tale.
 A bell ringing for Charity...
 The Bellringer is interrupted,
by a Bad guy who attempts
to take the money, but is also interrupted
by Watchcat ...

who returns the hat and bell to the Bellringer.
So what do you think? We want to hear from you! Feedback helps us
Any comments or suggestions? We are still revising the boards and will share with you the animatic next time.

We are up to 18,363 all time views
and
have 111 subscribers to Watchcat Films on YouTube!

Watchcat Animatics

Animatics are roughly animated storyboards used to work out any problems with picture editing, timing, sound and everything else before your final film is completed.

With that in mind, here is the animatic for our Watchcat Holiday episode.

You can see the final episode by clicking here.

And so, here's our first rough animatic for Watchcat Episode 4.

We are trying to keep our episode shorter in order to finish more than on a year. Any feedback is good feedback, so please let us know what you think, like, dislike, hate, don't understand, etc. Any comment is helpful. Thanks!

Watchcat Holiday Episode is here!

"Two episodes in 1 year, why it can't be done?!" They said it was impossible, but who listens to "They" anyway and as we say goodbye to 2016, here is our Watchcat Holiday episode as a present to you. Please share it with your friends, family and other Watchcat owners across the country and the rest of the world.

And a big "Thank You" goes out to two gentlemen who we worked with this year on both Watchcat projects. Alejandro Torres for composting the animation and kicking up the production value and Marcello De Francisci, for his sound recording and mixing expertise. Thanks Guys!

Have a safe and happy holiday season from Watchcat Films!

Rough Animation finishing up.

Things are going well as all the rough animation is finishing up. Its nice to have only 6 scenes to deal with instead of 45 or 50 as in the previous Watchcat episodes. My good friend, Alejandro Torres has created a nice wintery looking house which you will see more of at the end of the short. Here's a photo of the "house in progress".

Last week, we got a really nice email from Lindsey Villagomes, who we met at CTN Animation expo this year. We gave her our Watchcat Episode 2 postcard and she was kind enough to send us this feedback.

Hello!

I met you both at CTN this year and I just wanted to say that WatchCat is amazing! I absolutely love the atmosphere it sets up as well as the sense of humor. There was so many times that I would just burst out laughing from expressions on the character's faces to certain things character's would say. It's a great project and I can't wait to see more in the future! :D And I will for sure be spreading the word of WatchCat around!

Lindsey

This came at a time when I was considering saving the Holiday episode for next Christmas. After reading Lindsey's letter it let me know that at least someone took the time to let us know they liked what we are doing. It also helped me keep on track and get this Holiday episode done in time.

And so, here's our rough animation for Lindsey and other people who like what we are up to.

Chime in, let us know what you think of this post. Too shy to comment, then click on the ads to help us give money to a local animal shelter.

Rough Animation begins

My final animation class ended on Friday and yesterday I decided to installed a 21 day trail version of ToonBoom Harmony 14. My goal is to animate a Holiday Watchcat episode to send off to friends and family and end 2016 in a fun way.

I will attempt to document this production on my Animateducated blog if you are interested in learning more about the animation process using Harmony.

You can see the animation in previous post entitled "Making Christmas".

Here's a good example of the camera move in this rough of Scene 1. This begins with white at the beginning, so be patient.

So far, things are going well and I hope to have the rest of the scenes roughed out by the end of the week. If you like what you see or maybe you don't understand something, please let me know.
