Watchcat Wednesday postcard

At the beginning of the Summer, I set out to create 5 new Watchcat episodes in storyboard form. I'm still working on them and hoping to be done by August. We hope to have the episodes in animatic form in order to see if we can get funding to take them to the next level.

Right now, this whole venture is a hobby, since we aren't getting any income from it. I have been learning that I need to balance my hobby with the rest of my life. As a freelance animator, you can get carried away with looking for work or working on a project and make it your number 1 priority. But I've got a family and even though I want Watchcat to turn into a full time paying job some day, balance is the key. Making an animation takes a lot of work, but time with your family and friends is priceless. So, if I don't post on the next Wednesday or two,its because I'm spending time with my family.

I've noticed that we are still getting viewers to this blog even without a new post every week and people are clicking on the ads as well. We are almost to $50.00 now, more clicks will get Google closer to writing us a check for our Animal Shelter donation, so keep clicking.

Watchcat Wednesday July 12th

Here's a link to an episode of "No shit, there I was". I did the storyboard/animatic for this one called "Smells like Deployment Spirit."

Summer has sizzled by this year and in 6 weeks, I'll be back to teaching animation at Woodbury University. I've been enjoying my Summer, by going to more drawing nights at the Center Stage Gallery. Here's a link to Andy Flaster as a Hillbilly character and a few drawings I drew of him last Wednesday night.

Happy 4th of July, America!

I've been doing some research about WWll planes lately and came across something awesome...

The above was taken in 1944 of a group of young WWll British Paratroopers who went to Normandy. The link below takes you to an interesting story, where they found the same guys as well as their plane for a very special photo shoot.

If you are new to this blog, here are some links to our Watchcat episodes as well as some our popular blog posts of the past.

  Watchcat Episode02:  https://youtu.be/J-xe8EdBbW4

While researching WWll images about Paratroopers for a sequence in a future Watchcat episode, I discovered that the US army had a plan in WWll, to parachute dogs over enemy lines.

 That's one brave puppy.

And so, to celebrate our nation's birthday, we thought we would show you a work in progress of our next episode. Its still in the rough stages of production and we have already made some improvements, where we will learn more about Watchcat's past.
